結婚好嗎 Marry or Not

I finally finished the drama! Definitely recommend it. The main woman character, Yang Ya Zheng (played by Tian Xin) is great with the main guy, Fang Zi Xuan (Xiu Jie Kai). I loved how their romance wasn’t slow-paced or draggy even though the actual drama is quite a few episodes because it revolves around the idea of marriage and family. Whoever cast these two actors as the stars definitely has a knack for casting, the second I saw the preview, I knew I must check it out! The theme as you can probably tell revolves around marriage and family. You have Ya Zheng, a mother who just divorced her cheating spouse who ironically works as a wedding planner and Zi Xuan who has a traumatic view of marriage after see his parent’s marriage, building a career as a divorce lawyer.

Ya Zheng who although was cheated on my her husband multiple times and has low self esteem after divorcing was really insecure about herself. Fang Zi Xuan had a slew of his own family problems that still harbors grudges towards his father. The two leads pretty much offer a refuge for each other, allowing them to see certain things in different perspectives. It was sweet to see Fang Zi Xuan, to slowly accept marriage as a possibility in his life because he really loves Yang Ya Zheng and her daughter. I do believe though that they don't really need marriage to stay together. If Ya Zheng's ex-in-laws had never come back trying to gain custody of the child, it would have been nice to see Ya Zheng realize, she doesn't need to actually get married to be with someone.

I usually don’t watch family oriented dramas but this one was really enjoyable. It was a little draggy at some points but overall well paced. I think the conflict where Zi Xuan's ex-girlfriend comes back to plot against his and Ya Zheng's relationship is quite cliche and a bother to watch. Ya Zheng's grandmother pretending to lose her memory was a bit random but still funny to watch. The ending was really touching, where everyone plans a wedding for Zi Xuan's father and step mother who he had always treated poorly. Overall, it was really enjoyable to watch and I'd recommend it to anyone!~
