医龍 Team Medical Dragon

When it comes to medical dramas, you won't get much better than 医龍 AKA Team Medical Dragon. This is one of those dramas where the viewer is blessed with four seasons of medical awesomeness that you would want to rewatch over and over again. As strange as this sounds, I still can't fathom how it can be so amazing. It's filmed as if it was an anime. It is filled with a lot of intensity and drama but none of it seems forced acting or fake. I read parts of the manga and I think the drama is way better.

Every character has a very distinct personality and it's so engaging to see how Asada Ryutaro (played by Sakaguchi Kenji) weaves together his ideal medical team. This drama will keep you on the edge at every episode and season. Even though the seasons are somewhat similar, you never get tired of it; you only want more. I actually aquired some good medical knowledge from this drama. This drama almost makes you want to be a doctor (although I strongly advise against it if you're in the states).

In the beginning I was a little dissapointed by the lack of romance, however I realized it was for the best. If they threw in romance then it would be too much. I think the trust the team has for one another is way more important than romance between anyone. One thing it really made me realize that the corrupted system in hospitals is probably very real. I can only hope that hospitals have doctors like those in the drama that are willing risk their careers and try their hardest for the better of one's health.
